It is that busy week of the year again where many of our students are graduating. This is the moment where I can be proud and celebrate the success of the students I supervised. I am truly grateful that they have chosen me as their supervisor and I feel a little bit sad that our journey has ended for now and they are off to follow their own paths 🚀

Joost Bastiaansen combined ethnography, spatial analysis, reference projects, and literature reviews to develop socio-spatial strategies that create more space for teenagers to hang out in Voorhof in Delft. Joost immersed himself in the world of the youngsters, by visiting the local youth centre on a weekly basis, and became an advocate for this often stigmatised group.

Pratipal Gohil started from a strong interest in realising spatial justice in the development of the green spaces in Copenhagen. Strenghtening the relationship between people and nature, he proposes an extensive landscape vision for this region where people and nature interact in many ways.

Rosa Kuijt used neurodiversity as a lens to create more inclusve public spaces. In her case study on the Binnenrotte (Rotterdam), she developed the routing concept where users can decide and adjust based on their current needs. Rosa put a lot of effort into including neurodivergent people in her research to centralise their experience in the design.

Congratulations to all three of them! All of their projects are present a unique perspective to the design of the spatial environment and what role people can play in that. I look forward to seeing these recent graduates take the next steps in their career.
