From 8-12 June I enjoyed my first time at the Design Research Society Conference in Edinburgh. Not really my first time, to be honest, because two years ago I attended virtually and presented my paper on dilemmas in co-design online. So this was the first time I could really engage with the DRS community, being physically present at the event.
We hosted a successful track on Wednesday on Designing for and with Values, initiated by the Design for Ethics SIG. It was wonderful to see so many researchers interested in this topic. We are already discussing how we will continue this track in two years.
Next to that, I found multiple interesting communities to engage with, such as the Design for Policy and Governance SIG, the Public Design Studio, and the Systemic Studio.
It was a lovely week, where I met many familiar faces from my former Faculty Industrial Design Engineering, and a few current colleagues from the Faculty of Architecture and the Built Environment. DRS felt as the right venue to further bring these two realms of design together!
