Untangling the participation buzz in place-making: mechanisms and effects

I am so proud and extremely excited that this work with my Danish bestie Nicolai Brodersen Hansen got published in CoDesign. Place-making has recently gained traction from a variety of domains. In this paper, we executed a systematic literature to draw together the scattered research and analyse how the participatory practices of place-making are being designed and executed.

Our insights are as follows:
↩️ ↪️ designers of place-making programs do not align their mechanisms with their participation goals

🏡 🌻 place-making programs driven by the physical space are most efficient

🙇‍♀️ 🙇‍♂️ power dynamics is a neglected concept in current participatory place-making literature
